Boomerang, The Creatures album art

This is a project from my Applied Drawing class. It was fairly strait forward. Design an album cover for your assigned band’s album. The instructor also gave us a few descriptions of the albums to refer back to. This album, Boomerang by The Creatures, was described as ethereal, rhythmic, and tribal. I chose to take an organic approach by using a flower, and represent rhythm by illustrating the repetitive lines found within the structure of the flower. I painted this by hand using acrylic paint, and imported a photograph of the painting into photoshop to clean up the final image.
